Bonnie Seeman and Molly Hatch

Bonnie Seeman and Molly Hatch create work that expands the visual dialogue of botanical imagery and the concept of beauty.

Bonnie Seeman is a globally recognized artist whose works are in many private and public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Art. She received her BFA from the University of Miami, where she is presently a Senior Lecturer in Art and Art History. She received her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.

Molly Hatch received her BFA in 2000 from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and her MFA in 2008 from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She’s had four solo exhibitions and has been a part of numerous group exhibitions since 2000. Currently, Hatch is a full time potter in Northampton, MA and writes for Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, and American Craft Magazine.

Linda Lighton is a nationally acknowledged artist from Kansas City. She has been a part of numerous solo and group exhibitions, has represented the United States through several symposiums, and is an avid member of the Kansas City art community.
Lighton’s installation of translucent, porcelain lamps focuses on the human spirit and light within. This project was aided by a Metropolitan Arts Council Inspiration Grant.

Daniel Ricardo Teran is a 2007 Kansas City Art Institute graduate of ceramics from, Dallas, TX. Teran creates narrative ceramics, inspired by his Latin American and European heritage. The surfaces are etched with illustrations of issues such as identity, energy and death; comments on everyday life, in a functional form. Teran has been a Juried Artist in Residence at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, in Newcastle, ME and an Artist Resident at The Armory Art Center, in West Palm Beach, FL. Red Star Studios is a ceramic studio and gallery operating in Kansas City for over a decade. We have recently joined the Belger Arts Center in the Crossroads.

Our gallery hours are Wednesday – Friday 10-4, Saturdays 12-4 and First Fridays 6-9.

Ceramics is a tightly knit community. Everyone who has committed to clay has added a thread, joining the network for opportunity and collaboration. The Fundamentals of Clay was generated out of past affiliations between Red Star and this group of young artists that are the current candidates for a Master of Fine Art in Ceramics, as well as their influential professor Ted Adler, at the Wichita State University.
